Summary
Overall objective of this project is to carry out regular environmental education for Shanghai middle and high school students and training courses for Shanghai teachers on Chongming Island based on European methodologies and contents. Therefore experts from the partner cities Hamburg and Espoo design a detailed programme how to renovate and equip the existing facilities on Chongming to build up the so called Eco-Camp and what environmental contents will be taught by using European teaching methodologies. To ensure, that the European experts take the local environmental conditions and experiences in the field of ecological education into consideration, there will be various visits, seminars and workshops on both sides.

Furthermore exchange students from Hamburg and Espoo are invited to the Eco-Camp. The local people from the very poor Chongming county profit from the Eco-Camp as an income opportunity. Wide dissemination turns the Eco-Camp into a national forerunner in the field of environmental education.
