The 'Dolphin Mobile" has been started as a sister-city project between the City of Shanghai and Hamburg, Germany. It's a van, equipped with all kinds of materials that are used to help children meet and understand nature: Equipment for water and air analysis, microscopes, environmental games etc.
This Environmental Mobile Project provides practical environmental education for schools and communities in Shanghai. The practical classes are given by two teachers from the SEEC (Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau) and can be ordered at a small fee (100 RMB/ 12 EUR, Please contact: XXX). With its practical environmental education, Dolphin Mobile offers a unique opportunity for schools and summer-camps in and around Shanghai and is very much welcomed by pupils and teachers. The great demand for Dolphin Mobile classes from Shanghai Schools demonstrates the great interest in environmental matters as well as the dramatic need for this kind of environmental education. Since the start of the project, on June 5th 2001, "Dolphin Mobile" has visited 70 schools teaching about 10330 thousand students, (including lectures with up to 2000 pupils), although the van is available only 2 - 3 days a week.
